I look forward to connecting.
Hello! Looking for a mentor?

I offer my time as a mentor for undergraduate students who are first generation in their family to attend a four-year college and are interested in pursuing a design career.

About me: I have 16 years experience as a designer. I have training in architecture and interaction design, and I have worked as a design researcher, ux designer, and service designer. I teach classes on interaction design, design research, visual storytelling, design & public health, and game design at Cal State East Bay, UC Berkeley, and California College of the Arts.
Mentoring with me looks like this:
First, we’ll have an official meeting (virtually) to get to know each other. You tell me about yourself, your goals, and what you’d like out of mentorship. I tell you about myself and how I may be able to support you.
Then we set up monthly or bi-montly check-ins. During those check-ins (and in between) I can help with simple questions about the design field, reviewing your resume/portfolio/job applications/school projects, and I connect you with colleagues and friends who might be good resources for you.
My goal is to help you realize your strengths as a student and as a designer so you can confidently enter into your field of choice knowing the value you bring.
My role is not to evaluate or judge, it is simply to listen and support as you create your own path. I look forward to connecting with you and learning from you as well.
If you’re interested, drop me a line using the form below. As I am unable to meet with everyone who reaches out, I prioritize mentees based on how close you are to graduation and how able I am to support your own unique goals, based on my own experience and knowledge. If my own expertise doesn’t line up with your own goals, or if my mentoring schedule is full, I will do my very best to connect you with a friend or colleague who might be a more helpful as a mentor to you.
I really look forward to meeting you.
